JOHN B. ARNOLD/ DEMENTIA

 

Solo Project based on the use of the DTX electronic drumset brought forth as the main instrument combining elements of Techno, Minimal, Abstract, Trance, Drum & Bass and new concepts in electronic music.

 

Using two laptops, mixer, three sound modules and a played electronic set of drums filtered though the computer, the project stretches the use of electronic devices in forms of improvisation and expression.

 

John B. Arnold has released three recordings under his name and is completing his fourth.

Born in New York City, John B. Arnold grew up in the New York of the 70’s and moved with his family to Italy in 1982. He continued his studies and worked as a freelance musician in Italy upon graduating high school.  Living in Italy gave him the chance to work with many great international jazz and pop musicians(Chet Baker, Barney Kessell, Deodato.)

In 1991 John moved back to New York where he was an active musician until 2002 playing and recording as a sideman and leader with some of  New Yorks’s finestmusicians: (Groove CollectiveJazz Passengers, Gary Thomas, Greg Osby, Reggie Washington, Dave Binney,Larry Goldings, Adam Rogers, Jim Beard, Matthew Garrison, etc…

In 2006 John moved to Berlin to pursue his electronica project. Since living there, he has had the chance to perform with Kelvin Sholar, Benny Lackner Trio and Jonathon Robinson as a sideman.
